At least 27 people were reported dead on Friday after Malian commandos stormed a luxury hotel in the capital Bamako with at least 170 people inside, many of them foreigners, that had been seized by Islamist gunmen. Deborah Lutterbeck reports.

Security forces in Burkina Faso’s capital Ouagadougou were fighting to dislodge Al Qaeda linked militants who had taken hostages during an attack on a hotel on Friday night.
At least 27 people were killed when the gunmen stormed the Radisson Blu hotel in the Malian Capital Bamako on Friday.
Radisson Blue hotel siege has been brought to an end by the U.S, French and Mali special forces. According to reports dozens of bodies have been recovered.
