The U.S. has taken responsibility for a deadly air strike on a hospital run by medical charity Doctors Without Borders or Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) in the northeastern Afghanistan city of Kunduz.

US Central Command commander General Kenneth McKenzie admits the United States made a "mistake" when it launched a drone strike against suspected Islamic State militants in the Afghan capital Kabul on August 29, confirming that it killed 10 civilians instead. "The strike was a tragic mistake," McKenzie tells reporters at a Pentagon briefing after an investigation. SOUNDBITE
Medical aid group Medecins Sans Frontieres says it is hard to believe a mistake caused a deadly U.S. strike on an Afghan hospital last month, as it had reports of fleeing people being shot from an aircraft. Jillian Kitchener reports.
