After nearly three weeks of violence between Palestinians and Israelis, Palestinian militants say they're ready to end the truce with Israel that's been in place since last year's war with the Jewish state. Mana Rabiee reports.

The White House says it is "cautiously optimistic" on the chances for a Gaza ceasefire deal after a new proposal by Hamas but stressed that talks were far from over. "We're cautiously optimistic that things are moving in the right direction," National Security Council spokesman John Kirby tells reporters in a press briefing. SOUNDBITE
The United States wants the war between Israel and Hamas to "end as soon as possible," the White House says, after Israel's defense minister told a top US official the conflict would last several months more. "How long that's going to take? I can't predict...but obviously we all want it to be over as soon as possible," US National Security Council spokesman John Kirby tells reporters in a briefing.
