  • Protest against flying leaflet balloons being sent to North Korea

    Seoul, Jun 22 (EFE/EPA).- North Korea is planning to send some 12 million propaganda leaflets to South Korea through balloons as, " retaliatory punishment," following similar actions carried out by activists in the South, Pyongyang state-media said on Monday.The North Korean regime led by Kim Jong-un threatened with this measure after rejecting a dialog proposal with the South last week and announced its plans to remilitarize the border between the two countries following the anti-regime propaganda leaflets sent via balloons to the North, which according to Pyongyang, violates the 2018 bilateral agreement."The preparations for the largest-ever distribution of leaflets against the enemy are almost complete," state news agency KCNA said in a statement.     Seoul, Mar 3 (EFE/EPA).- Dozens of South Korean activists gathered in downtown Seoul on Wednesday to protest the military coup and urge a halt to violence in Myanmar.Members of Korean civil society network supporting demcracy in Myanmar took part in a protest against the Myanmar military coup.The protesters demanded the withdrawal of Korean companies from investing in related projects with the Myanmar military.   • South Korean protesters rally against US special envoy for North Korea's visit

    Seoul, Jul 7 (EFE/EPA).- South Korean protesters on Tuesday rallied in Seoul against a visit by the US Special Representative for North Korea Stephen Biegun. Biegun is scheduled to arrive in Seoul on Tuesday for discussions on the stalled nuclear talks and current tension with North Korea.Protesters were demanding the dissolution of the US and South Korea working group. During his three-day visit, Biegun is scheduled to meet South Korea’s chief nuclear negotiator Lee do-hoon and Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha to discuss the situation in the region after Pyongyang recently cut all communication with Seoul and blew up the inter-Korean liaison office on its territory.Biegun may also meet with the newly appointed national security advisor and former head of South Korea's main intelligence service, Suh Hoon.
