Chefs from across Peru gathered in Lima on Saturday in a bid to make the world’s biggest chocolate bar. The mammoth chocolate bar was made using more than two tons of pure cocoa, nearly 400 gallons of milk, 1500 pounds of sugar, 44 pounds of chestnuts and walnuts, and 66 gallons of water. Chocolatiers from all over Peru raised 250,000 Peruvian soles, or nearly $100,000, for the project and worked 8 hours straight to make the bar.
A massive crocodile measuring over 17 feet long was discovered on a tea estate near the Sri Lankan town of Akuressa on Tuesday by a worker. The tea worker called in wildlife experts from a nearby branch of the conservation department and, with the help of about 30 villagers, they managed to bind the giant reptile with rope. The villagers then placed the enormous croc on a wooden platform and paraded the beast around the village.
This massive Celtic cross beautifully and brilliantly colors the landscape of the Killea Forest in Ireland when the leaves change color for the autumn, and it can only be seen from the air. Stretching over 330 feet long, this sylvan treasure remained undetected for years until it was spotted by passengers flying in a commercial plane over the forest recently. The especially verdant contrast between the leaves of the trees in the Celtic cross and those of the surrounding trees is said to have been caused by a particularly dry autumn season. Alien enthusiasts shouldn't get their hopes up though, the Celtic cross is not the work of bored and artistic extraterrestrials. It was created by Liam Emmery, a talented and patient Irish forester who meticulously planted hundreds of unique trees in the Celtic cross pattern over a period of several years. His knowledge of horticulture and mathematical precision in planting the trees contributed to the vision that has now born fruit. However, Emmery won't be able to enjoy the well-deserved recognition and global attention for his horticultural masterpiece - the forester passed away in 2010 at the untimely age of 51, well before his creation became known to the public. Despite Emmery's death, camera crews and journalists did show up at his door and were greeted by his widow, who had all but forgotten about her husband's work. However, she said that her late husband would have been so proud that others had appreciated the giant Celtic cross. Emmery's forested legacy will live on long after his death. Horticultural expert Gareth Austin estimates that passengers and drones flying over Killea forest will be able to enjoy Emmery's Celtic cross for up to 70 more years.
