Mobile phone footage filmed by Emiliano Grillotti in the Italian town of Amatrice in the early hours of Wednesday morning shows the immediate aftermath of a 6.2 magnitude earthquake which has left at least 38 people dead and dozens of others buried under the rubble of collapsed houses and buildings across central Italy.

Atami, Jul 5 (EFE/EPA).- Japanese authorities in Atami said four people died and more than 100 were missing after a mudslide caused by torrential rains swept part of the municipality last weekend.Although local authorities initially reported about 20 missing people, they later said the number had risen to 113, Japanese government Spokesman Katsunobu Kato said Monday.Atami authorities base their missing persons figures on the current resident registry, which is why they said it is difficult to determine the actual number of missing people, as some may have moved out of the area without notifying them prior to the incident. A small town cemetery is almost destroyed following the magnitude 6.2 earthquake that rocked Italy, Deborah Lutterbeck reports.
Drone footage filmed on Thursday morning shows the ruins of the earthquake-stricken city of Pescara del Tronto in the Le Marche region of central Italy. The footage shows the complete devastation of the small town, with empty shells of houses poking out from rubble littering the streets as far as the eye can see. The earthquake has decimated medieval towns, destroying centuries old buildings and churches.
