Audi revealed its luxurious Aicon concept car at the IAA 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show on Wednesday. The futuristic Aicon concept has no steering wheel or pedals, instead of driving autonomously while the driver sits back and relaxes on one of the interior swivel chairs. Audi's Aicon concept is a fully electric vehicle which can travel up to 500 miles on a single charge. The vehicle uses advanced artificial intelligence to navigate while also getting information from the driver using eye tracking and gesture controls.

A new Chinese car company called Redspace unveiled the innovative REDS prototype model at the 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show on Wednesday, designed by former BMW Design Chief Chris Bangle. The cubical-shaped car was designed in particular for the gruelling traffic of Chinese megacities, and comes with a 17-inch screen and rotating seats for those bumper to bumper moments. The strange windshield might not be the most aerodynamic, but it's set to offer an excellent view.
A new technology developed by Japanese tech company OMRON may have a solution to help prevent crashes caused by driver fatigue. OMRON's Onboard Driving Monitoring Sensor uses facial recognition and artificial intelligence to tell if a driver is falling asleep or texting while driving, and prompting them to pay attention and drive safely.
Have you ever heard of self-driving cars? If you have, you might think that they are still far off into the future. Well, think again. This is the PostBus self-driving shuttle, called the Arma, and it was ferrying people to and fro at the CeBIT technology fair in Hannover. The autonomous shuttles use three LIDAR sensors in the front and three in the back to navigate through the streets. The PostBus Arma shuttles, which are a joint project by Swiss company PostAuto and French manufacturer Nayra, still do have driver to make sure nothing goes haywire though, but perhaps not for long. This isn't the first time that the PostBus Arma shuttle has carried people to and fro - the self-driving mini bus is already in operation in the Swiss town of Sion. With a population of 33,000 people, Sion has been chosen as a pilot for mass introduction of self driving tech to Switzerland.
