Emmanuel Santos, the artist responsible for a thoroughly ridiculed statue of footballer Cristiano Ronaldo for its bizarre lackof resemblance, was given a chance to make up for his heavily-mocked efforts by unveiling a new work, this time paying tribute to Welsh footballer Gareth Bale. The new bust of Bale stands in a Cardiff branch of betting company Paddy Power, who commisioned artist Emanuel Santos to create it.
Madeira airport was renamed in honour of Portuguese football star Cristiano Ronaldo, at the ceremony, on his home island of Madeira, Wednesday, together with the unveiling of a bust of the footballer. Ronaldo expressed words of thanks, stating, "I say that these tributes should be made while the honoured people are alive, like in my case. And for that I thank the regional government President, for having the courage to stand up for his idea."
