Kathmandu, Apr 8 (EFE/EPA).- Hindu devotees in Nepal on Wednesday took part in the ritual bathing festival known as the Balaju Purnima in the capital Kathmandu amid the nationwide lockdown.Nepal is under a nationwide lockdown in an effort to combat the spread of the coronavirus and COVID-19 disease pandemic. Balaju Purnima, also known as the full moon festival, is a religious bathing rite performed in Nepal every year to protect devotees from misfortune and illness. Water has strong spiritual significance in Hinduism as it is believed to have the power to wash away bad luck and sins. Hinduism is the religion of the majority of people in India and Nepal.Of Nepal's population of 26 million, some 81 percent follow Hinduism. (Camera: NARENDRA SHRESTHA).
