Germany approves planned coal phase-out

Description

Berlin, Jul 3 (EFE / EPA) .- (Camera: Omer Messinger) The lower house of the German Parliament (Bundestag) passed on Friday the law to regulate the progressive abandonment of the use of coal as a source of energy until its disappearance in 2038, as well as a 40,000 million euros aid for the regions and companies affected in the transition period.FOOTAGE OF THE BUNDESTAG.

  • Controlled demolition of 80 year-old German coal power plant

    A former coal-fired power station in Lünen, Germany, is partially destroyed in three controlled explosions. The 110-metre high cooling tower, the 250-metre chimney and the 70-metre boiler house collapse under the blasts, requiring 420 kilograms of explosives in 2100 bores. The Lünen coal-fired power station was commissioned in 1938 and its dismantling began in June 2020.
