Mazda is committed to drastically reducing carbon emissions – by 2050, Mazda aims to be carbon neutral across all fields of operation. Electrifying vehicle powertrains will be one important factor in achieving this goal. But as Mazda believes the internal combustion engine (ICE) will still be powering the vast majority of cars in the coming years, full electrification can only be one aspect of a sustainable electrification strategy. The Mazda MX-30 e-Skyactiv R-EV series plug-in hybrid1 has received a maximum five-star rating by Euro NCAP. The excellent results of the battery-electric MX-30 e-Skyactiv EV2 tested in 2020 now officially apply to its new plug-in hybrid derivative, too.Both MX-30 derivatives score impressively in all four Euro NCAP test categories: Adult Occupant - 91%, Child Occupant - 87%, Vulnerable Road User (pedestrian safety) - 68% and Safety Assist - 73%.Moreover, they achieved maximum points in lateral impact tests, as well as full marks for crash test performance based on 6- and 10-year-old children for both frontal and lateral impact.The MX-30 was the first Mazda to achieve an overall five-star rating under the more stringent 2020 Euro NCAP crashworthiness ratings with a stronger emphasis on occupant protection, post-crash protection, and advanced driver assistance technology.

With ‘living true to myself’ as the product concept, the MX-30 offers a pure, pleasant drive, an exterior with a familiar, approachable look, and a cabin space that settles the mind and heart through the use of materials with a warmth to them - a combination of elements that make time spent with the car and experiences enjoyed alongside it creativity-inspiring for owners.The MX-30 e-Skyactiv R-EV is a series plug-in hybrid that continues to offer the same customer values as the original MX-30, while simultaneously offering new ways of using the car as a battery electric vehicle. The MX-30 e-Skyactiv R-EV has an 85 km battery electric driving range sufficient for everyday driving needs, as well as the ability to use a generator to enable long distance drives. Throughout, the entire driving range is electric motor-powered.
The new Mazda MX-30 makes no compromises: Despite the locally emission-free electric drive, customers enjoy the driving pleasure that is typical of the brand. Thanks to the 35.5 kWh high-voltage battery, the capacity of which has been selected so that the environmental impact over the entire life cycle is taken into account, the model offers a range of up to 265 kilometers in the realistic WLTP cycle - and thus far more than that of European commuters covered an average of 48 kilometers per day. Environmentally friendly materials such as cork and the freestyle doors that open in opposite directions are further features of the new Mazda model.Like any other Mazda, the MX-30 offers the very natural and direct driving experience that the brand is known for. It accelerates, decelerates and steers as you would expect in the relevant situation. The innovative technologies around the e-Skyactiv drive are responsible. The high-voltage battery installed below the floor, for example, is directly connected to the body structure, which increases the overall rigidity and ensures direct driving behavior.
