  • BMW iX achieves highest possible five-star rating in Euro NCAP safety assessment

With its purely electric drive and comprehensive range of digital features, the BMW iX represents a new era in individual mobility. In addition, it operates at the highest level of safety. This is according to the experts of the European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP) – the consumer protection institute specialising in automotive safety – who awarded the BMW iX the highest possible rating of five stars in the Euro NCAP safety assessment. During the course of the test programme, which was further intensified in 2020, the BMW Group’s new technology flagship impressed with both its outstanding occupant protection and its advanced driver assistance systems, which are particularly effective in helping to prevent accidents. The BMW iX achieved five-star ratings in all test categories of the Euro NCAP crash test. In the assessment of adult occupant protection, the testers highlighted among other features the effectiveness of the new interactive airbag between the driver and front passenger seats, which provides additional protection against injury in the event of a side collision. Child safety in the rear of the BMW iX was also given the highest possible score for both frontal and side collisions.Meanwhile, the integrated safety concept of the BMW iX ensures the highest level of passenger protection. In addition to precisely coordinated restraint systems, this includes highly resilient support structures and precisely designed deformation zones that absorb the impact of a collision and keep it away from the passenger compartment. The body structure of the BMW iX combines an aluminium spaceframe concept with a carbon cage for the passenger compartment. Particularly torsion-resistant components made of carbon fibre reinforced polymer (CFRP) are used in the roof, side and rear sections of the BMW iX.

  • Honda Civic - Crash & Safety Tests - 2022

The all-new Honda Civic e:HEV has been awarded the maximum five-star rating in the latest Euro NCAP safety tests. Embodying Honda’s commitment to zero road fatalities involving any of its products by 2050, the 11th generation Civic features a number of improved and upgraded technologies to achieve one of the highest level of passenger and pedestrian safety in its class. To meet stringent Euro NCAP crash impact safety standards for Adult Occupant Protection, the Civic’s body incorporates a number of structural braces to enhance the overall passive safety of the vehicle. This includes additional front door stiffeners and rear wheel arch frames that improve side impact performance. These are joined by a full-width brace that supports the joining edge between the floor and resin bulkhead, to help control and limit deformation in the event of a head on or offset frontal collision. In addition to the stronger, more protective chassis, all trim variants of the new Civic incorporate a total of 11 airbags as standard, including knee airbags for both front occupants to reduce injury during front impacts and side airbags to protect front and rear seat passengers. A front centre airbag features for the first time, which prevents a collision between the driver and front passenger during a side impact. This level of protection is extended to all occupants of the all-new Civic, not just adults. The car also scored well in the Child Occupant Protection category thanks to the integrated ISOFIX mounting points that conform to the latest European i-Size standards.

  • European Car of the Year Volvo XC40 receives five star rating in Euro NCAP assessment

"Volvo Cars’ XC40 adds another accolade as it receives five stars and top ratings in its 2018 Euro NCAP tests. This means the XC40 joins its larger siblings in the 60 and 90 series as one of the safest cars on the roads. The 2018 Euro NCAP testing was the toughest ever with new and more demanding challenges on safety technology, including cyclist-detection with auto-brake and emergency lane keeping systems. Overall, the new XC40 received the highest safety score among all cars tested under the new regime.“The new XC40 is one of the safest cars on the market,” said Malin Ekholm, head of Volvo Cars Safety Centre. “It comes standard with the largest offering of safety technology of any small SUVs, helping drivers detect and avoid collisions, remain safely in their lane and reduce the impact of accidentally running off the road.” All tested Volvo cars on sale today have received five stars in their respective Euro NCAP assessments. Last year, the XC60 was crowned the overall best-performing large off-roader and the best overall performer in the prestigious Euro NCAP 2017 Best in Class safety awards. The XC90 received the same accolade in 2015. In March, the XC40 was named 2018 European Car of the Year, the first Volvo to win the prestigious award, and it has since been one of Volvo’s top sellers. The company announced in May that it would expand production in its manufacturing facilities in both Europe and China to meet the overwhelming demand for the car."
