Political insiders, Democrats, and their donors have blamed far left Democratic Socialists and Progressives, like Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez. The media has also been brutal with the facts, placing the Democratic failures squarely at the feet of Progressives, AOC and her Squad. In an interview Ocasio-Cortez told the NY Times a defeated and demoralized AOC said she might quit politics. Her decision will depend on the hostility of her own party towards progressive causes. "I don't even know if I want to be in politics," she told The Times.
Alabama Sen. Doug Jones is the only Democratic Senator from the Deep South. Jones is running against Tommy Tuberville. In December 2017 Jones narrowly won a special election to replace former Sen. Jeff Sessions. Now, he faces much tougher odds against Tuberville. Tuberville is a former Auburn University football coach. He has earned President Donald Trump's endorsement. That's because his Democratic challenger, Jamie Harrison, raised a record $57 million in the third quarter of 2020. The deluge in cash led to an appeal by Graham to his supporters on Fox News, where he said that he 'was getting killed financially' by Harrison. Business Insider reports Harrison beat the fundraising record of then-Rep. Beto O'Rourke of Texas, who ran against Republican Ted Cruz in 2018. The most recent Quinnipiac University poll showed both Harrison and Graham tied at 48% support.
