Slammed by Covid-19, Brazil loses health minister for 2nd time in a month

Brasilia, May 15 (EFE).- The oncologist who became Brazil's health minister on April 17 after the incumbent was fired amid frictions with President Jair Bolsonaro on dealing with the coronavirus pandemic has resigned, the ministry said Friday.Dr. Nelson Teich, who came to the job with limited experience in public health, ended up clashing with the right-wing president over the need for quarantines to contain Covid-19.Teich, like predecessor Luis Henrique Mandetta, insisted that restrictions on movement and activity were vital in the face of an illness that has claimed nearly 14,000 lives in Brazil.
