  • Audi e-tron extreme - Technology demonstrator test on legendary “Streif”

In late January, Audi sent its first fully electric-powered SUV onto the slopes where the world’s best ski racers battle for victory in the Hahnenkamm Race. The specially equipped Audi e‑tron climbed the “Mausefalle” on the legendary “Streif”. With an 85 percent gradient, it is the steepest section of the spectacular downhill course. With an 85 percent gradient, the “Mausefalle” is the steepest section of the famous “Streif” downhill course in Kitzbühel. To climb this passage, the Audi e‑tron technology demonstrator was equipped with a special quattro powertrain with two electric motors on the rear axle and one electric motor on the front axle. The technology demonstrator achieved a total boost output of up to 370 kW and wheel torque of 8,920 Nm (6,579.1 lb-ft). This ensured full performance on the steep gradient. Audi also modified the software with respect to drive torque and torque distribution for the special conditions on the “Streif”. 19-inch wheels with spikes developed specifically for this driving event provided the necessary grip on snow and ice.

  • 2019 Audi e-tron Design Preview

The Audi e-tron is an electric SUV for sport, family and leisure. It is 4,901 millimeters (16.1 ft) long, 1,935 millimeters (6.3 ft) wide and 1,616 millimeters (5.3 ft) high. It offers the spaciousness and comfort of one of the brand's typical full-size models. With a wheelbase of 2,928 millimeters (9.6 ft), the Audi e-tron has ample space for five occupants along with their bags. The total luggage capacity is 660 liters (23.3 cu ft), equipping the electric SUV for major tours.Efficiency, performance and quiet tranquility - the Audi e-tron exemplifies the driving experience of a new technological era. Two electric motors drive the electric SUV powerfully, free of emissions, and almost silently, with a system output of up to 300 kW and 664 Nm (489.7 lb-ft) of torque. The maximum drive torque is available within fractions of a second and provides enormous pulling power. The Audi e-tron completes the standard sprint in 5.7 seconds. Top speed is an electronically-limited 200 km/h (124.3 mph).A new quattro generation - electric all-wheel drive - provides for superlative traction and handling on any terrain and in any weather conditions. It ensures the continuous and fully variable regulation of the ideal distribution of drive torque between the two axles - within a fraction of a second. In most cases, the electric SUV tends to use its rear electric motor to achieve the highest efficiency. If the driver demands more power than it can supply, the electric all-wheel drive redistributes torque as required to the front axle. This also happens predictively even before slip occurs in icy conditions or when cornering fast, or if the car understeers or oversteers. The dynamic talents of the Audi e-tron are especially apparent at low coefficients of friction, such as on snow.

  • Audi Q6 e-tron Experience – Prototype Drive - Exterior Design

Development of the first model based on the new Premium Platform Electric (PPE) is on the home stretch. During test drives, selected media representatives are able to get behind the wheel of an Audi Q6 e-tron prototype personally and share their impressions with AUDI AG’s Technical Development team. To top off the event, the new lighting technologies in the Audi Q6 e-tron will also be unveiled. The Audi Q6 e-tron marks the beginning of the largest model initiative in Audi’s history. It is also the first model on the newly developed Premium Platform Electric (PPE). This technology platform, which is jointly developed by Audi and Porsche, is designed exclusively for electric vehicles. It is scalable to accommodate a wide range of models in the mid-size and luxury segments. The battery size and wheelbase of PPE vehicles are also scalable. This enables both SUV and CUV models with high floors possible, as well as flat-floor models such as the Sportback or Avant, which are part of the core segment of Audi’s range.Given all these firsts, Audi is preparing the introduction of the model with all due care. As part of Audi’s communication campaign ahead of the model’s launch, the first Audi Q6 e-tron Experience event, a prototype drive, is now taking place. In this way, the brand with the four rings is revealing, at this very early stage, a glimpse into various areas of the vehicle’s technology and the work of the developer team. As a special feature of the event, which will take place over the next two weeks, media representatives will be invited to take a seat behind the wheel of the Audi Q6 e-tron prototype themselves and get a first impression of the way it drives. Audi experts will accompany them in the passenger seat to provide support with their expertise.
