Students and health workers hold 24h strike in Athens

Athens, Sep 24 (EFE / EPA), (Camera: Yannis Chryssoverghis).- Hundreds of students took to the streets if Athens on Thursday demanding more resources to fight the pandemic while healthcare workers joined a national 24-hour strike.Since the pandemic began, Greece has recorded 16,286 coronavirus cases and 363 deaths.FOOTAGE OF THE PROTESTS.SOUNDBITES OF: -Vasilis, student: "In Petroupoli we are in a container school, with classrooms of 36 square meters, each student corresponds to one meter and a half square metre and we are 24 people in each class. We can't continue like this and that is why we protest."-Manolis Vardakis, nurse at Thriasio hospital intensive care unit: "At Thriasio there were already 260 vacant positions before the pandemic. In the coming weeks, 45 people will be fired and we demand that the dismissals are revoked."
