The Republican committee of Arizona's Maricopa County is considering censuring the widow of the late GOP Sen. John McCain. Cindy McCain was a prominent Republican supporter of President-elect Joe Biden's 2020 campaign against President Donald Trump. Business Insider reports the committee floated a proposal on Saturday that would have censured her, but the measure did not move forward. The state party confirmed via Twitter that they would vote on a resolution to censure McCain on Jan. 23rd. The Maricopa GOP has already censured former Republican Sen. Jeff Flake of Arizona, who endorsed President-elect Joe Biden in the 2020 election.
Cindy McCain is under consideration to serve as US Ambassador to the United Kingdom. This is according to a report from The Times of London. McCain is the wife of the late Republican Sen. John McCain of Arizona. She endorsed Biden's 2020 presidential campaign against President Donald Trump. Business Insider reports that McCain has long endured a wave of attacks against her late husband by President Donald Trump.
The widow of the late Republican Sen. John McCain believes her husband 'would be very pleased' that Joe Biden defeated President Donald Trump on Election Day. Although a lifelong Republican like her husband, Cindy McCain endorsed President-elect Biden. Business Insider reports McCain says she hopes Trump concedes gracefully, as did her late husband conceded to then-president-elect Barack Obama in 2008. The late senator was widely praised for his moving concession speech delivered on Nov. 5, 2008, just a day after Obama's projected election win. I really truly hope ... that this president stays on the right side of history. But also with all that said, does what's right for the country. Cindy McCain Widow of the late Arizona Sen. John McCain Trump has refused to concede and has floated baseless theories to justify nullifying the results. He also claimed he had already won the election, despite trailing Biden and not accounting for the unprocessed ballots throughout the country.
Just days before being canned by President Donald Trump, Secretary of Defense Mark Esper denied serving as the president's yes-man in the Pentagon. According to Business Insider, Esper told the Military Times he challenges the president more than any other Cabinet-level leader. President Donald Trump fired Esper Monday, providing no reason. However, the president has previously purged officials for a perceived lack of loyalty. Esper and the Commander in Chief have locked horns on numerous issues, most notably over Esper's order to cease flying the Confederate flag on US military bases. Also, Esper also tried to distance himself from a politically-charged photo op, in which Trump awkwardly clutched a Bible in front of a church near the White House. Federal troops pepper-sprayed peaceful protesters in Lafayette Park, so the way would be cleared for Trump, Esper, and other officials to walk to the church.
After Trump's "not a war hero" remark about Sen. John McCain last year, retired Rear Admiral John Hutson had a message for the Republican nominee from the DNC stage: "Donald, you're not fit to polish John McCain's boots." Rough Cut (no reporter narration).
