The Zoo of Copenhagen has released footage of a baby elephant which was born last week in captivity as part of a European breeding program for Asian elephants. The mother is 16 year old Maha Kumari and the fathers name is Fahim. The name and gender of the baby elephant aren't known yet. Calves weight in beetween 70 and 90kg at birth after spending 22 months in their mothers wombs, the longest gestation in the animal kindom. Mei Xiang, Washington DC National Zoo's female giant panda, gave birth to a cub and is caring for it, the zoo announces. "Mei Xiang picked the cub up immediately and began cradling and caring for it," the Zoo staff said in a statement. IMAGES
