The EU dishes out a 337.5 million euro ($366 million) fine to Mondelez, the US confectioner formerly known as Kraft behind major brands including Toblerone and Oreo, for restricting sales of products within the 27-country bloc. The giant "illegally restricted retailers from sourcing these products from member states where prices are lower" explains European Commission VP Margrethe Vestage, "and this allowed Mondelez to maintain higher prices." Two days before the end of the Paris International Agricultural Show, a convoy of twenty tractors led by activists from the farmers union the Coordination rurale is parked in front of the Palace of Versailles. "We're continuing the movement because we're not being heard (...), we've got band-aids and little envelopes of cash, but that's not going to move things forward," laments Nicolas Bonguay, president of the CR in the Doubs region of eastern France.
