Pandemic Pushes University Faculty Job Openings Over A Cliff

Description

While jobs in certain industries are readily available across the US, that's not the case at all for university faculty positions. According to Science Magazine, the COVID-19 pandemic has turned thousands of university campuses into veritable ghost towns. Across STEM disciplines, faculty job openings at U.S. institutions are down 70% compared with last year. On the Science Careers Job Board, just 173 US-based jobs were posted between July and September this year, compared with 571 during the same period last year. The dramatic reduction signals anxiety about university finances. Colleges are losing revenue from tuition, sports events, and lodging, so they're going on hiring freezes.

He has urged people not to wear face masks or socially distance and to resist lockdown restrictions--most notably in Michigan. Now, Stanford University’s faculty senate has issued a forceful condemnation of Atlas for spreading disinformation about COVID-19. According to HuffPost, the censure states that Atlas's behavior is “anathema to our values and belief that we should use knowledge for good.'
