Scott Atlas Has Gotten On Stanford Faculty's Absolute Last Nerve

Description

Fox News contributor Dr. Scott Atlas is a neuroradiologist with no experience or training in public health, infectious diseases, or epidemiology. And yet, he's a key adviser to President Donald Trump on his coronavirus task force, as well as a senior fellow at Stanford’s conservative Hoover Institution. Atlas has pushed a controversial theory of so-called 'herd immunity' with respect to the novel coronavirus pandemic. The theory is unsupported by science. He has urged people not to wear face masks or socially distance and to resist lockdown restrictions--most notably in Michigan. Now, Stanford University’s faculty senate has issued a forceful condemnation of Atlas for spreading disinformation about COVID-19. According to HuffPost, the censure states that Atlas's behavior is “anathema to our values and belief that we should use knowledge for good.'

  • Trump's Dr. 'Herd Immunity' Wants Americans To Stand In Solidarity With COVID-19

On Sunday, Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer announced three weeks of new, statewide, social distancing orders. The move comes in response to a 113% surge in cases over the past two weeks across Michigan—bringing the total cases to around 276,000. But Gizmodo reports White House coronavirus task force member Dr. Scott Atlas is urging Michiganders to protest in solidarity with the novel coronavirus. The neuroradiologist has zero experience in public health, infectious diseases, or epidemiology. He's has reportedly earned enmity from other members of the White House task force for pushing unfounded, dangerous theories like 'herd immunity.' He has also lied about the science behind mask-wearing to create the false impression masks are useless against the virus.

  • Rand Paul Gives Misleading Information

Sen. Rand Paul gave an interview with Fox News, where he gave very misleading information about the COVID-19 virus. He claimed that the millions of people who have survived COVID-19 should "celebrate" because they are "now immune" from the virus. "We should tell them to celebrate. We should tell them to throw away their masks, go to restaurants, live again, because these people are now immune." His comments contradict public health guidance. Business Insider reports there is no evidence people who have recovered from the disease have established immunity from it. The Republican senator of Kentucky also took aim at the country's top infectious disease expert, Dr. Anthony Fauci.

  • Trump's 'Dr. Herd Immunity' Gives Interview To Russian Propaganda TV Channel

Radiologist Dr. Scott Atlas has no qualifications or experience in public health, epidemiology, or infectious diseases. A top adviser to President Donald Trump on the coronavirus pandemic, Atlas advocates a controversial 'herd immunity' approach. In a recent interview, Atlas blasted lockdowns as 'an epic failure of public policy,' and that they were 'killing people.' Atlas made the remarks on RT, a Kremlin-backed platform that last year a team of US lawmakers said uses YouTube as its 'propaganda vehicle of choice.' In the past, Atlas has been accused of spreading disinformation and false information surrounding the coronavirus pandemic. The radiologist apologized for his appearance on RT, tweeting he was unaware RT was registered as a foreign agent in the US.

  • Trump Admin Blasts Fauci For Saying US Needs An 'Abrupt Change' In Handling Pandemic

Dr. Anthony Fauci is in hot water with the White House for speaking out in an interview, published Saturday, about the state of COVID-19 cases in the US. The director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases warned that the US needed to make an 'abrupt change' in its handling of the pandemic. White House spokesperson Judd Deere sternly rebuked Fauci for making 'his political leanings known by praising the president's opponent.' Business Insider reports that for the first time since the outset of the pandemic, the US logged nearly 100,000 new cases of COVID-19 in a single day. President Donald Trump has continued to falsely blame the rise in cases on a rise in testing--and media coverage.
