It's no secret that President Donald Trump has been very unhappy indeed with Vice President Mike Pence's refusal to halt the Electoral College Count. According to Business Insider, Pence is said to be disappointed and saddened by Trump's public and private attacks on him. However, sources say Pence isn't ruling out the option of invoking the 25th Amendment to remove Trump from office. Still, sources say Pence and his team are reportedly worried that Trump may descend into even more mental instability. They fear that by invoking the amendment or starting an impeachment process, Trump will be triggered into action and put the nation at risk.
On Wednesday, Vice President Mike Pence wrote a letter to Congress. In the letter he does not have the "unilateral authority" to throw out states' electoral votes. The statement came minutes before Congress convened to officially certify President-elect Joe Biden's 2020 election victory. Pres. Trump has insisted that Pence has the power to "decertify" states' electoral votes and throw the election to him.
Attorney Lin Wood tweeted on Friday that Vice President Mike Pence should be arrested for treason and executed by firing squad. The staunch supporter of President Donald Trump also blamed Chief Justice John Roberts and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell for the election results. According to Business Insider, Wood's remarks triggered some Republicans to issue tweets to distance themselves from him. Among them were Trump campaign lawyer Jenna Ellis, and the conservative high school student Nicholas Sandmann. In recent weeks, Wood has filed or joined lawsuits to overturn President-elect Joe Biden's election victory. Wood has also cited conspiracy theories in the past.

The Vice Presidential Debate will be held Wednesday night. Over the weekend President Donald Trump was diagnosed with COVID. Debate organizers want to keep the candidates safe, so they suggested that VP Mike Pence and Kamala Harris sit with plexigass barriers around them. CNN reports that Pence does not want plexiglass barriers around him at the debate. A top Pence aide said the VP is rebuffing an announcement from the Commission on Presidential debates that the dividers would be used. "We have yet to hear medical evidence what the plexiglass is for," Pence's chief of staff Marc Short told CNN. The plexiglass dividers were announced by the commission on Monday night.
