Former USA gymnastics team doctor Larry Nassar attended a court hearing in Lansing, Michigan on Monday after admitting to sexually assaulting minors. Gymnasts and other young women took to the podium to deliver statements to the disgraced doctor. The former doctor admitted to sexually assaulting underage girls under the guise of providing medical treatment after over 140 women accused him. Three executives from USA gymnastics board resigned on Monday following Nassar's trial.
76-year-old Cardinal George Pell entered a plea of not guilty at Melbourne magistrates court on Wednesday in the first hearing of the case of multiple historical sexual abuse offences against him. Media, protesters and some supporters crowded outside the courthouse, with many waving different signs decrying sexual abuse allegedly committed by Catholic clergy. The magistrate ordered the prosecution serve a brief of evidence by September 8, 2017 and Pell to return ot the court for a committal mention on October 6.

The International Criminal Court throws out an appeal by Dominic Ongwen, a Ugandan child soldier-turned-commander in the Lord's Resistance Army, against his conviction for war crimes. Dominic Ongwen, who was himself abducted aged nine by the rebel group led by the fugitive Joseph Kony, was found guilty last year of murder, rape and sexual enslavement in northern Uganda during the early 2000s.
