The gunman who shot and killed 12 people in a government building complex on Friday in the US state of Virginia, is identified by the Virginia Beach Police Chief as Dewayne Craddock. Craddock was shot and killed himself after an extended gun battle with responding officers.

Police in long beach California were called to the scene of a stabbing spree on Friday night, and killed a suspect armed with a knife.
