The International Olympic Committee has given the go-ahead for a number of new sports to compete at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. According to CNN, one notable newcomer will be breakdancing. It will be the first DanceSport event to appear at an Olympic Games, having been staged at the Youth Olympics in Buenos Aires two years ago. The IOC executive board also announced that skateboarding, sport climbing, and surfing will be featured in Paris, too. Those three events were due to debut at the postponed Tokyo Games. US cross-country skier Kikkan Randall, who is also the only mother on the team, became the first American athlete ever to receive a gold medal for Olympic cross-country skiing. On Wednesday, Randall won the Team Sprint Free Final race along with her partner Jessica Diggins, clocking the 7.5 km-long hilly track in 16.22.56. Randall is the only mother on the US team, as well as one of the first women to compete in five editions of the Olympic Games.

A South Korean burger joint owner was baffled when world famous US Olympic snowboarder Shaun White came into his restaurant to try the $920 'Flying Tomato Burger,' named after Shaun's nickname. Although the burger was intended as a joke, Shaun White came and ordered it, taking pictures with the owners and enjoying his meal. He went on to win an Olympic Gold medal on Wednesday
US Olympic athlete Red Gerard became the youngest snowboarder ever to win a gold medal at the Winter Olympics last weekend. Gerard was at the bottom of the table heading into the third and final trial, when he landed a clean run that pulled him straight up to the top spot on the podium. This was the first gold medal for the US delegation in the Pyeongchang Olympics.
