From acclaimed director Richard Kelly, THE BOX stars Cameron Diaz as Norma Lewis and James Marsden as Arthur Lewis, a suburban couple with a young child who receive a simple wooden box as a gift. However, this simple gift bears fatal and irrevocable consequences. A mysterious stranger (Frank Langella), delivers the message that the box promises to bestow upon its owner $1 million with the press of a button. But, pressing this button will simultaneously cause the death of another human being somewhere in the world.....someone they don't know. With just 24 hours to have the box in their possession, Norma and Arthur find themselves in the crosshairs of a startling moral dilemma and must face the true nature of their humanity.
The United States says it still opposes a major Israeli assault on the southern Gaza city of Rafah, after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said a date was set. With some 1.5 million Palestinians sheltering in Rafah, "We have made clear to Israel that we think a full-scale military invasion of Rafah would have an enormously harmful effect on those civilians and that it would ultimately hurt Israel security," State Department spokesman Matthew Miller tells reporters. A NASA spacecraft blasts off from the Kennedy Space Center bound for Psyche, a metal-rich asteroid that could be the remnants of a small planet, or perhaps a new type of celestial body unknown to science. NASA announces that a third attempt to launch its new lunar rocket would not occur in the coming days, after a fuel leak caused a second launch attempt to be halted. The current launch period for the Artemis 1 mission "ends on Tuesday. We will not be launching in this launch period," says Jim Free, associate administrator for Exploration Systems Development at NASA. SOUNDBITE
