The region of Veneto is one of the worst affected by ferocious storms which have flooded Italy. Some 200 firefighters from the entire Veneto region have reportedly been operative in the area to deal with the damage. The storms have destroyed around 14 million trees, according to the association of Italian agricultural companies.
Italian firefighters and other emergency services evacuate residents fom the town of Senigallia after at least seven people died when violent storms in the centre of the country flooded roads and homes. The Corriere della Sera newspaper said about 400 millimetres (16 inches) of rain fell in two hours -- about the quantity normally recorded in six months in this zone. IMAGES

Images of the destruction in Dawson Springs, a town of 2,500 residents which was reduced to rubble by the deadly tornadoes that ripped through the US state of Kentucky four days ago. An estimated 75 percent of homes were destroyed, according to the mayor of the town. IMAGES
