Sebastian Vettel explains the F1 Monza circuit 2018

Description

"If ever there was a need to say it, the Italian Grand Prix, for Scuderia Ferrari, is a special race. In the pack of memories, even if limited to the Formula One years, you can draw randomly and find something: from the first victory with Alberto Ascari, dated 1951, to the world confirmation of Lauda and Scheckter to the five successes of Michael Schumacher - all with the Red, in the space of eleven years - which in the history of F1 remains the most seen rider on the highest step of the Monza podium. That podium that today has become a catwalk able to offer a unique view, both to those above and to the public below. The national Grand Prix number 69 (only one, remember, was not held in Monza but in Imola in the 80) started practically close to that of Belgium. A small team was seconded for the preparation of the Milan event on Wednesday 29, the activity at the Autodromo began in the early days of the week. Spa and Monza chase each other on the calendar and, in the collective imagination, they also look like super-fast tracks. In reality there are several differences, because the route of Brianza does not have the full bends from that of the Ardennes but, on the contrary, asks a lot more to the brakes and promises, in a straight line, even greater speeds. If there is a common point, besides being two classics of the calendar, it is the passion of the fans that never fails. And that in Monza, not even to say it, is above all red passion."

  • Sebastian Vettel explains the Yas Marina Circuit 2018

The last race of the year also greets Kimi's career in the redThe last stage of a very long season will end on Sunday night, in the evocative setting of Yas Marina. But the 2018 Formula 1 on track does not end with the weekend of Abu Dhabi: Tuesday and Wednesday, in fact, the track will host the last test session, which is already a step in the future, intended as it is to testing and development of the Pirelli tires for next year. For Scuderia Ferrari, the program includes the presence of Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc, or the formation of 2019.The Grand Prix of the Emirates is also an opportunity to greet the last race in red by Kimi Raikkonen, after eight seasons with the team of the Cavallino. The first period - that of the world title - lasted from 2007 to 2009, the second from 2014 to today. Kimi is already the fifth driver of all time for the number of appearances and GP disputed; with two more years of career ahead of him, there are prerequisites for becoming the number one!The transfer of the Scuderia began on Saturday with the first departures, the test team will return on Thursday 29. Apart from a possible rain shower in the next two days, the weather in Abu Dhabi does not reserve any surprises for the activity on the track, with temperatures in the order of 30 degrees for tests and races. The night, as always, will add charm to the weekend.

  • F1 Russian Grand Prix 2018 Sebastian Vettel explains the Sochi circuit

"With Sochi another double trip begins. The Russian Grand Prix arrives this year at the fifth edition: but the approach march has been much longer. More than a hundred years ago, in 1913 - that is, even before the advent of the USSR - the first race was run. At the beginning of the 2000s the tests of Sergej Zlobin and the project, never taken off, go back to create a circuit on the island of Nagatino (which is not an island, but a neighborhood. Other ideas, still in the Muscovite area, were not followed. Until the time when it was decided to move all 1600 kilometers further south, on the shores of the Black Sea. The rest is chronicle. The Sochi slope - which is actually closer to Adler - winds through the buildings of the Winter Olympics. It is characterized by a particularly smooth asphalt, which goes well with the soft compounds (Soft, Ultrasoft and Hypersoft, at the debut here) selected for the weekend. Temperatures should remain at late summer levels. The track combines a very fast section with a sector of right-angled curves. The distance between the starting line and the first corner is just over 400 meters, but in reality the first breakaway arrives long after, so that the riders at the start can exploit the trail of those preceding them. The 3-4 curve, a long semicircle on the left, is actually practically covered in full. Consumption is high and mechanical adhesion is not excessive, also due to the need to balance the wing load for fast sections. With Russia opens another back-to-back, or two races in two weeks. For the Scuderia Ferrari, Monday after the race it will be time to transfer men and materials to Japan for the Suzuka classic."

  • Kimi Raikkonen explains the 2018 F1 circuit Mexico

A charter led the Scuderia Ferrari racing team from Austin to Mexico City on Monday morning. Just over two hours of flight to completely change horizon: from the plains of Texas to a megalopolis that, seen from the plane, never seems to end, with a crazy traffic and the police at every street corner. All around there are mountains, but it is hard to realize, especially when the sun heats, to be over 2200 meters above sea level. Two miles more than Austin.Elevation is a classic theme of the Mexican GP: it has always been the highest race in the world (the lowest of course is Baku, which is 28 meters below sea level). Air rarefaction, about 25 percent less, has an important effect on aerodynamics. Normally on this track we use a maximum level of downforce: but even so, the overall load is lower than that of Monza. For the engines the speech is a bit 'different, since the turbo compensates for the lower air density and therefore the relative loss of power.Like a week ago, even here the weather has some unknowns. During the weekend, storms are expected almost every day. But it is difficult for this to discourage the public, that since the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez has returned to the calendar has never failed to fill the stands on the day of the race.

  • Kimi Raikkonen explains the 2018 Suzuka circuit, Japan

"Suzuka, the most loved and imitated circuit. The fear of typhoon Trami - which unfortunately has done serious damage in Japan - has now passed. At Suzuka the days before the Grand Prix are full of bright sunshine and late summer temperatures. But the weather announces imminent rain, which could last, sometimes, until Saturday before qualifying. Most of the team arrived in Japan directly from Russia. It is always exciting to see how the Suzuka International Circuit comes alive day after day, as families who take the children to the big amusement park mingle with the fans of Formula 1, who are truly unique here for passion and inventiveness. If you ask a driver - and those of Scuderia Ferrari are no exception - to list his three favorite tracks, 99 percent will include the track created in 1962 by the Dutchman John Hugenholz to build a test track commissioned by Honda. It is actually a ""modular"" circuit, which can take advantage of different configurations and lengths depending on the type of race: but the track of the Grand Prix, with its 5,807 Km, is naturally the best known. A succession of breathless curves, including the upward double ""they"" that inspired more modern installations such as Austin. Few braking, top speed close to 330 Kmh despite not long straights, overtaking not easy but always busy riders. A ""rhythm"" track where a good aerodynamic balance is the key to being fast."
