Jeffrey Donaldson, the former leader of Northern Ireland's main pro-UK unionist party arrives to appear in court over alleged sex offences that have rocked the region's politics. Donaldson resigned as leader of the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) on March 29 after police charged him with "historical" sexual offences against two complainants. One of the province's best known politicians, Donaldson has said he will be "strenuously contesting" the allegations. IMAGES
Former US President Donald Trump's motorcade arrives at a New York courthouse, where he faces a contempt of court hearing as part of his historic criminal trial, with New York prosecutors insisting the former president repeatedly violated the gag order issued to prevent him from intimidating witnesses. The hearing comes a day after the jury heard opening arguments in Trump's hush-money case, with prosecutors placing him at the center of a criminal conspiracy while his defense team insisted he was "cloaked in innocence." "I'm here instead of being able to be in Pennsylvania, in Georgia, and lots of other places campaigning," he adds. Trump, 77, has been ordered by the judge to appear in the Manhattan court for the duration of the case, largely keeping him off the campaign trail for weeks as he challenges President Joe Biden for the White House in November's election.
