Kiangwaci, Aug 19 (EFE / EPA) .- Young Kenyan engineering graduate Anthony Muthungu, 28, has started Kenya's first local manufacturing company of USB cables. According to Muthungu, he got inspired to start his own production line of cables after falling victim to substandard imported USB cables that have flooded the market. He uses recycled plastic waste for internal injection which saves him 60 percent of the raw materials in the production. The company currently manufactures Android chargers such as Micro USB and USB Type C, as well as iPhone chargers. Their cables are Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) approved and Brand Kenya certified as authentically made in Kenya product. The Kenyan market has been flooded with fake USB cables due to a large number of users using them for their smartphones in which Anthony hopes he will be able to change that narrative with his products that are already being embraced by many Kenyans because of their quality and affordability. The product, dubbed Makaa Dotcom, has brought fuel production full circle by collecting human waste and turning it into charcoal to heat stove-ovens in homes and restaurants, and to keep livestock warm. Justin Chadwick directs this heartwarming tale based on a true story. When the Kenyan government promises free education for all, 84 year old Maruge (Oliver Litando in his debut role) makes his way to a remote primary school in the Kenyan bush to get himself the education he has always been denied. An old Mau Mau warrior, fifty years before he fought for the liberation of his country, and now he must fight for his right to sit in a classroom, alongside a class of six-year-olds, and learn to read. Moved by his passionate plea, head teacher Jane (Naomie Harris) supports his struggle to gain admission and together they face fierce opposition from parents and officials who don't want to waste a precious school place on such an old man. Full of vitality and humour, and filmed in the exhilarating landscape of Kenya's Rift Valley, this is based on the true life story of a man's determination to learn, the power of education and the shocking untold history of British colonial rule in Kenya.
