  • What Matters Most In Deciding Whether To Pay Off Your Mortgage Early

Especially in uncertain times like these, the dream of owning one's home free and clear is an enticing one. On the other hand, isn't saving for retirement, or college funds more important? According to Business Insider, if you have the opportunity to pay off your mortgage early, the deciding factor comes down to just one thing: interest rates. If the rate on your mortgage is higher than the rate you'd earn by investing cash in the stock market, pay down the debt first. • Can Trump Pardon Himself? Would It Matter If He Did?

Having grudgingly green-lit the peaceful transfer of power, President Donald Trump is now perfectly poised to proceed with a parade of pardons. But what about Trump's former campaign chairman, Paul Manafort, who is still in home confinement serving out his prison sentence? Even more to the point, what about Trump himself? Trump has repeatedly asked aides about pardons for himself and his family members--and whether he could issue them preemptively. CNN reports the question of self-pardoning may be moot. If Trump faces any criminal charges, they'll be at the state level, not federal. US Presidents are not immune from any state charges.

Parts of 26-year-old Brandy Odom's dismembered body were found in a Brooklyn park over two years ago. Now, Newser reports prosecutors now have a theory in the notorious and grisly unsolved murder. Last week, Odom's roommates—Cory Martin, 33, and Adelle Anderson, 32—were charged with federal wire fraud and identity theft crime. What's more, prosecutors say text messages and YouTube searches have led them to believe Martin killed Odom. They say further charges may come. Martin bought a reciprocating saw from Home Depot, then performed YouTube searches on 'how to insert blade for reciprocating saw.' Prosecutors believe Martin killed Odom so that he and Anderson could collect on two life insurance payouts, totaling $200,000.

Bronfman brought young women into the US for the Nxivm cult and used part of her $210 million fortune to silence the group's enemies with legal action. Bronfman still publicly supports cult leader Keith Raniere, who was found guilty last year of charges including sex-trafficking and racketeering.
