French President, Emmanuel Macron, meets his Egpytian counterpart, Abdel Fattah al-Sissi, at the 'Baghdad II' conference on the shores of the Dead Sea in Jordan. This is the second edition of the summit, following one held in August 2021, and is aimed at helping resolve regional crises. Those in attendance called on Iraq to move away from the Iranian axis, pledging to support the country's stability. IMAGES

King Abdullah II of Jordan receives Emmanuel Macron in Amman during a whistlestop crisis tour by the French President. Later in the day, Macron is to hold talks in Cairo with Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, the president's office said. Egypt has been one of the main brokers in efforts to secure the release of more than 200 hostages held by Hamas in Gaza. Macron already met separately Tuesday with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas. IMAGES
