Sony unveils electric car prototype at CES

Description

Sony unveils an electric vehicle prototype named Vision S at the CES technology conference in Las Vegas. "This prototype embodies our contribution to the future of mobility and contains a variety of Sony's technologies," says Sony chief executive Kenichiro Yoshida.

    US electric car manufacturer Fisker unveiled its brand new Fisker EMotion electric car at the 2018 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas on Tuesday. Luxury car designer Henri Fisker has set the stakes high with the new EMotion as the company prepares to enter a market that has been dominated by Tesla. Fisker EMotion is equipped with the newest ‘solid state’ batteries, promising a range of 400 miles and the option to recharge in less than 10 minutes. The car is expected to be on the market in 2020 with a starting price of $130 thousand.

The i8 Roadster is a two-seater hybrid sports car featuring a soft-electric top and an aluminium body with a carbon-fiber passenger cell.The car comes with a battery that has an electric-only range of up to 18 miles before the 3 cylinder, 369 horsepower gas engines joins in. The i8 hybrid roadster is fast - its top speed is 155 mph and the sleek vehicle can accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour in about 4.4 seconds.

    Czech carmaker Skoda is betting big on China. They unveiled an electric concept car called the Vision E, through which they hope to take their place in the world's largest auto market. Skoda CEO Bernhard Maier's presence at the unveiling underscores the importance of the market to the company. Skoda's new Vision E electric concept car was unveiled at the 2017 International Automobile & Manufacturing Technology Exhibition, also known as Auto Shanghai Expo on Tuesday. The four-seat crossover is based on VW Group’s MEB platform. Vision E has two electric motors delivering a combined 225kW of power. Designed in the Czech Republic, the Vision E is fuelled by liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery cells, and boasts a potential driving range of 310 miles. China's automotive industry has been the largest in the world since 2008. Chinese automakers produce more cars than the US and Japanese markets combined. In 2014, China produced over a quarter of the world's cars.
