Algerian papers mark two-year anniversary of Hirak protest movement


IN THE PRESS – Monday, February 22, 2021: "Not dead. Simply dormant." That's how one editorialist describes Algeria's Hirak protests, two years after the demonstrations first erupted to oust then-president Abdelaziz Bouteflika. In the US, papers struggle to visualise the country's coronavirus death toll which is now at nearly 500,000.
