Republican Sen. David Perdue will fight Jon Ossoff for the US Senate election in Georgia. Ossoff was an investigative journalist and the 2017 Democratic nominee for the high-profile special election in Georgia's 6th District. He is challenging Perdue's bid for a second term. Georgia has been considered a safe Republican stronghold for decades. Business Insider reports that a demographic shift in the state may favor Democrats.

He raised $103.3 million during the same time. The race has drawn national attention because the victors will determine whether Republicans maintain control of the Senate.

Democrat Jon Ossoff won the Georgia Senate runoff election against the Republican Sen. David Perdue. This win makes Ossoff the youngest Democratic senator elected since President-elect Joe Biden in 1973. The 33-year-old Ossoff is also the first millennial elected to Senate. According to Business Insider, Biden, now 78, won his first Senate seat in Delaware at the age of 30. Previously, the youngest incumbent senator was the Republican Sen. Josh Hawley, 41.
