Prohibition of alcohol during elections: another ignored rule in Venezuela

Caracas, Dec 5 (EFE).- Thousands of Venezuelans ignored on Saturday the customary prohibition of sale and consequent consumption of alcohol during electoral processes, a norm that, like many others in Venezuela, is ignored by the bulk of the population.The measure seeks to prevent the political passions from overflowing under the influence of alcohol and generally limits the sale of the drinks for 72 hours before, during, and after the elections.
