BMW presented a level five autonomous driving car at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona on Monday, a car that would allow its driver to completely take his or her mind off the road, enabling the driver to eat, watch a movie, or even sleep behind the wheel. However, the level five autonomous car still has a way to go before being realised. In the meantime, BMW expects to get level 3 autonomous vehicles called iNEXT on the road by 2021.

A man driving under the influence of narcotics launched his white Nissan Altima into the air after hitting a raised median divider at high speed and smashed into the second floor of a dental office. No one was in the building at the time of the crash. Both the driver and a passenger were able to safely leave the vehicle. A specialized fire truck from Los Angeles was brought in to remove the car from the wall.
Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn unveiled details of the latest model of the second-generation Nissan Leaf at the Consumer Electronics Show 2017 and introduced the company's new system for handling self-driving cars, dubbed Seamless Autonomous Mobility, or SAM. Developed with NASA tech, SAM is set to connect the autonomous vehicle with human support at a control centre in a bid to deal with unexpected situations that the car's internal system cannot handle alone.
The company prided for building the ultimate driving machine has an ambition plan for helping ridesharing services. By 2021 BMW plans to produce fully autonomous vehicles with the intent of providing ridesharing customers with a driverless alternative. For people that don't like other people, a ridesharing service sans social interactions may be on the way.
