A Russian security guard tackled an American diplomat to the ground outside of the US Embassy in Moscow and wrestled with him on the ground for at least a minute. Russian security services allege that the diplomat, named Daniel Van Dyken, was suspected of using his diplomatic status within the third secretary of the political department of the US Embassy as a cover and carrying out spy missions for the CIA in Russia.
The United States denounces Russia's expulsion of two US diplomats for their work with an embassy contractor and promised to take countermeasures soon.
