A missile strike by Russia overnight hit the city centre of Kharkiv, Ukraine´s second largest city, damaging several buildings and water pipes and leaving a large crater in the road. "There is a school here, offices and residential buildings, but there cannot be military objects here because this is the central part of Kharkiv," says Kharkiv mayor Igor Terekhov. Images show a Ukrainian air defence system working during a strike on Kyiv overnight. Ukraine said on Tuesday that it had downed an entire barrage of Russian drones and missiles, including six hypersonic missiles, just hours ahead of a visit by a Chinese special envoy. Posting on Twitter, Defence Minister Oleksiy Reznikov said "another unbelievable success for the Ukrainian Air Forces! Last night, our sky defenders shot down SIX russian hypersonic Kinzhal missiles and 12 other missiles". The statement comes just over a week after Ukraine said it had downed its first Kinzhal hypersonic missile. IMAGES
