The arctic cold of Swedish Lapland is an essential destination for all new CUPRA models launched on the market to ensure maximum performance through extreme testing. The latest to take to the frozen tracks of Northern Europe was the CUPRA Tavascan, with a world-class driver at the wheel - ABT CUPRA Formula E driver Lucas di Grassi. The CUPRA ambassador experienced first-hand the sensations and emotions delivered by CUPRA’s 100% electric SUV on icy surfaces and snowy tracks in Lapland.
Pre-sales of the CUPRA Born will begin in Australia in December, although the 100% electric car has already started to travel on its endless roads. This is a country with very specific characteristics, both in terms of temperatures and infrastructure. To understand how this model will adapt to the new market, particular testing has been carried out. More than 22,000 kilometres were travelled, and thousands of data recorded on a journey to confirm that the CUPRA Born is ready to conquer Australia.
The CUPRA Born, the brand’s first 100% electric model, which delivers an emotional design and instantaneous performance, continued the company’s great results during Euro NCAP’s safety testing, achieving a 5-star safety rating.It’s a significant result for the CUPRA Born, and it now joins the CUPRA Formentor and CUPRA Leon as five-star cars, highlighting once again that the brand is committed to delivering vehicles that mix contemporary performance and maximum safety. But this time in a 100% electric model.
The CUPRA Born is the brand’s first 100% electric vehicle and the next stage of the unconventional challenger brand’s development.It integrates the most advanced powertrain technology: the pure electric system is available with a choice of either 150PS (110kW) or 204PS (150kW) electric engines that deliver energy to the rear wheels.With the addition of an e-Boost package, maximum output can reach up to 170kW (231PS), with battery packs of 58kWh and 77kW, to deliver a range of up to 420km (58kWh) or up to 548km (77kWh).When equipped with the e-Boost package and with the 58kWh battery, the CUPRA Born goes from 0 to 50km/h in only 2.6s and the 0-100km/h in just 6.6 seconds.
