UK's PM says sending Ukraine more anti-aircraft, anti-tank missiles


During a joint press conference in London with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson says that Britain is sending Ukraine more "high-grade military equipment" including Starstreak anti-aircraft missiles and 800 anti-tank missiles. SOUNDBITE

The missiles are fired as part of military exercises on snow covered planes and the commander of the training department says that once training is complete "operators will receive these weapons and will be deployed to the task area". Meanwhile, President Vladimir Putin maintains French that the West is ignoring Moscow's security concerns over Ukraine.

    In a narrow backyard at the outskirts of Lviv, Western Ukraine, 36-year-old Taras and his friends are making use of every piece of scrap metal they can lay their hands on for a higher purpose: to build homemade anti-tank obstacles which might eventually stop a Russian military advance. "We started doing this when the war started, literally on the first day", Taras explains.
