Olivier, an expert in perceived quality, explains the work he carried out on one of the emblematic interior design features in the first SUV of Renault’s Nouvelle Vague: its sliding hand rest – and what makes sliding it so exciting.
The All-New Austral sees the arrival of Renault’s third generation four-wheel steering: 4CONTROL Advanced.CONTROL has been in a class by itself since it was presented and reached the market in 2007. Today, 4CONTROL Advanced remains unrivalled – and unprecedented in the segment’s SUVs. It is back with a number of upgrades providing greater agility, unequalled performance and ever more driving pleasure. With this system, the All-New Austral is equipped with a new four-wheel steering chassis, providing one-of-a-kind handling and stability on all road conditions. On uneven and poor-quality roads, the movement of the wheels filters out the lumps and bumps in the road surface. The benefits are instant: handling is better, and comfort and acoustic performance are optimised, for all-round peace of mind at the wheel.
Experiencing the interior of the All-new Renault Austral is unique thanks to the carefully chosen textures and materials that have been tested at the Renault Technocentre secret laboratories in Guyancourt (greater Paris area). This is where Carla, trained chemist and head of the sensory panel at Renault, works with a team of testers to ensure that materials used on the car interiors are just as they should be. When it comes to covering everything a customer may want, be it a steering wheel and armrests that are pleasant to touch, comfortable seats, or a dashboard with just the right level of foaming, testers employ an unusual measuring device that is as original as it is reliable: humans. From senses to science, meet the person in charge of the unique measurement system
The All-new Renault Austral combines the most advanced 4CONTROL and MULTI-SENSE technology, the culmination of more than ten years of development. The pinnacle of personalization, they boast a unique ability to choose settings according to a driver's preferred driving sensations and emotions. Xavier, a Renault Global Control Chassis expert and musician, explains how the brand’s two iconic technological features have evolved with each new generation, culminating in what is become today. Climb on board and enjoy the tour!
