Porsche 911 S/T Design in Studio

Description

To mark the special anniversary of the iconic 911 sports car, the engineers in Weissach have designed a highly purist sports car dedicated to sheer driving enjoyment: the 911 S/T. The exclusive anniversary model unites the strengths of the 911 GT3 with Touring Package and the 911 GT3 RS and delivers a unique combination of agility and driving dynamics. It combines the naturally aspirated, 386 kW (525 PS, 911 GT3 RS: Fuel consumption* combined (WLTP) 13.4 l/100 km, CO₂ emissions* combined (WLTP) 305 g/km) 4.0-litre boxer engine from the 911 GT3 RS with a short-ratio manual transmission. This is complemented by a resolutely lightweight construction and a running-gear setup optimised for agility and drivability. The 911 S/T weighs just 1,380 kilograms (DIN kerb weight, incl. all fluids), making it the lightest model of the 992 generation. The optional Heritage Design Package draws inspiration from the racing version of the 911 S from the late 1960s and early 1970s.The design of the anniversary model incorporated GT and motorsport expertise from Porsche. This is reflected in its particularly nimble and agile handling, which is designed for maximum driving enjoyment on winding country roads. The reduction of rotating mass both in the engine as well as the wheels and brakes ensures particularly dynamic responsiveness. The S/T responds to driver commands instantaneously. Every steering movement, every ounce of pressure on the accelerator or brake is implemented immediately and with pinpoint precision. Unlike the 911 GT3 RS, the focus of the development of the 911 S/T has been not on track use, but rather for journeys on public roads.

  • Le Mans is a Porsche racetrack - Double victory at the 24-hour marathon in Le Mans 2018

A pink car on the starting line of a race? And at one of the world's most important long-distance races to boot? This has never happened before. Wait a minute... Yes, it has happened before, in 1971! Back then, Porsche brought a special 917/20 Coupé to Le Mans. The car was a cross between a short and long-tail version. The Porsche Design Studio had it painted pink, and had the car optically divided into automotive "cuts," like on a butcher's diagram. No wonder the car caused a stir. A rather special name was quickly found for the racing car: "The sow." To this day, it remains one of Porsche's most famous cars, although it did not qualify at Le Mans. And because the sports car manufacturer is celebrating its 70th anniversary in 2018, the company is once again bringing a "sow" to the starting line: the 911 RSR with the starting number 92. Even if history were to repeat itself, and this pink racing car were to drop out as well, it would not be a major drama. Rather, it would still be a self-confident appearance put in by a proud automobile manufacturer. But history did not repeat itself. On the contrary. In the Pro category, in which six manufacturers compete against each other, the "sow" finished first after 344 laps in the 86th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
