Facebook and Instagram owner Meta has been fined €390m for privacy law breaches in the EU. It plans to appeal. Two cases were brought against it after the introduction of the EU's GDPR laws.
Human rights lawyer Pavel Chikov has warned that simply displaying the Instagram and Facebook logos, or advertising on those networks, could be deemed illegal under Russia's criminal code.
Amnesty International accuses Facebook of exacerbating human rights violations in Myanmar. It claims the social network proactively "amplified" anti-Rohingya content back in 2017, when the country's military launched a deadly crackdown on the ethnic minority. Patrick de Brun, a researcher at Amnesty International who wrote the report, tells us more about how the evidence came to light.
