The quarter-finals of the 2022 World Cup kick off on Thursday as Argentina and the Netherlands lock horns at Lusail Iconic Stadium and Brazil take on Croatia
Today's early knockout match is between Japan and Croatia. While later in the day Brazil faces off against South Korea. FRANCE 24's sports journalist correspondent in Qatar, Selina Sykes, tells us what to whatch for during the first match of the day, as Japan have been one of the big surprises of the tournament and Croatia's team was finalist in 2018.

Samba kings Brazil are through to the World Cup Quarter finals after an absolutely stunning first-half display that saw them defeat South Korea 4-1. With Neymar's return, the team had no trouble in showing their technical superiority. The World Cup also saw its first penalty shootout of the competition so far, with Croatia coming out on top over Japan. It was so close but so far for the Samurai Blue, who thought they had done enough after Daizen Maeda's opener. But Ivan Perisic headed in an equaliser for Croatia and the match was finally decided from the penalty spot.
Croatia moved into the World Cup quarterfinals by beating Japan in a penalty shootout on Monday at Al Wakrah, Qatar. The teams had played to a hard-fought 1-1 draw. Daizen Maeda opened the scoring for Japan in the 43rd minute and Croatia's Ivan Perisic headed in the equalizer in the 55th. Croatia advanced 3-1 on penalties, with three Japanese players seeing their spot kicks saved.
