BMW X1 - Crash & Safety Tests - 2022 - Update 2023
Drivers are on the safe side with the Lexus RX: In the crash test of the independent testing organization Euro NCAP, the premium SUV was awarded five out of five stars. The latest generation of Lexus Safety System +, which comes as standard, is partly responsible for the top rating, which, together with other driver assistants, provides support in everyday life and helps to identify dangers and avoid accidents. The numerous assistance systems complement the improved GA-K platform in the fifth model generation, which offers excellent body rigidity and a low center of gravity. The Lexus RX achieves top results in all four test categories: The protection of adult occupants is rated at 90 percent, the safety of children at 87 percent. When it comes to protecting endangered road users, the RX achieves 89 percent and an outstanding 91 percent for the assistance systems.Lexus has made several improvements for this: The Pre-Crash Safety System (PCS) now uses a combination of radar and camera. Thanks to the enlarged working area and a shorter reaction time, even more dangers can now be detected earlier. The intersection assistant, for example, notices oncoming traffic and crossing pedestrians when turning and minimizes the risk of possible collisions. The emergency steering assistant helps with evasive maneuvers with targeted steering and braking assistance. The PCS also registers a sudden, unintentional actuation of the accelerator pedal at low speeds - and can thus prevent potentially dangerous acceleration.
With the Lexus NX, drivers are on the safe side: Thanks to advanced assistance and safety systems, the premium SUV achieves five out of five possible stars, the best rating in the crash test of the independent testing organization Euro NCAP.The new edition of the successful model, which is available as a full hybrid NX 350h and for the first time as a plug-in hybrid NX 450h+, impresses in all four test areas. In addition to the exceptional vehicle rigidity, which contributes significantly to the high level of passive safety, the third generation of the standard Lexus Safety System + is responsible.Euro NCAP rates these assistance systems with an outstanding 91 percent – a top result. But the new Lexus NX also achieves an excellent 83 percent when it comes to protecting adult occupants, and even 87 percent when protecting children. There are also 83 percent for vulnerable road users.
The passenger compartment of the UX remained stable in the frontal offset test. Dummy readings indicated good protection of the knees and femurs for both the driver and passenger. Lexus showed that a similar level of protection would be provided to occupants of different sizes and to those sitting in different positions. In the full-width rigid barrier test, protection was good or adequate for both the driver and rear seat passenger. In both the side barrier and the more severe side pole tests, maximum points were scored, with good protection of all critical body regions. Tests on the front seats and head restraints demonstrated good protection against whiplash injuries in the event of a rear-end collision. A geometric assessment of the rear seats also indicated good whiplash protection. The standard-fit autonomous emergency braking system scored full points in tests of its functionality at the low speeds at which many whiplash injuries occur, with collisions avoided at all test speeds and overlaps.
The next chapter of the Lexus Electrified Vision has arrived with the launch of the all-new RZ battery-electric SUV, the first Lexus BEV built on a dedicated electric vehicle platform.Following the successful launch of the first Lexus BEV - the UX 300e in late 2021 - the RZ brings Lexus a step closer in its aim of offering a fully-electrified range of Hybrid, PHEV and BEV luxury vehicles in Australia by 2030.The new electric powertrain with e-Axle electric motors and DIRECT4 all-wheel drive adds to the renowned Lexus elements of luxurious takumi craftsmanship and impeccable build quality.Lexus Australia Chief Executive John Pappas said the new RZ retains all the signature Lexus elements customers have come to appreciate, but now with zero exhaust emissions. The RZ launches in Australia with the choice of two grades, starting with the 450e Luxury variant from $123,000 plus on-road costs. The flagship 450e Sports Luxury asks $135,000.Both variants are powered by the same compact and efficient 71.4kWh lithium-ion battery, deploying 230kW of power and 435Nm of instant torque to all four wheels and a driving range of 470km.Instant torque and all-wheel traction allows the RZ to sprint from standstill to 100km/h in just 5.3 seconds, on the way to a top speed of 160km/h.All RZ grades come as standard with an 11kW on-board charger, which can recharge the vehicle in approximately 6.5 hours when connected to a three-phase power supply. Recharging to 80 per cent capacity cuts the waiting time to just 30 minutes when hooked up to a DC fast charger.
