Israeli soldiers stormed Gaza's largest hospital on Wednesday, targeting what they believe is a major Hamas command centre located beneath the hospital complex. But compelling evidence that Hamas fighters are carrying out operations from medical facilities in Gaza remains scarce, according to Lex Takkenberg, Senior Advisor on the Question of Palestine at the Arab Renaissance for Democracy and Development based in Amman.
Israel renewed its operation at Gaza's largest hospital Thursday, targeting what it maintains is a Hamas command centre concealed in a complex sheltering more than 2,000 civilians.
The UN special rapporteur on the occupied Palestinian territories has urged UN member states to intervene in the crisis in Gaza, accusing the international community of being "paralysed" in its reaction to the tragedy. Speaking to FRANCE 24, Francesca Albanese said she stands by her earlier comments, when the death toll in Gaza was half what it is now, that there is a "serious risk of genocide". She accused Israel of aiming to destroy not just Hamas, but also Gaza itself. She joined us for Perspective.
