Images show Evan Gershkovich leaving court after his detention was extended by two months. Gershkovich, an American Wall Street Journal reporter is being held in Moscow on espionage charges which he denies. The court hearing was attended by representatives of the U.S. Embassy in Russia. He was arrested during a reporting trip at the end of March last year in the Urals city of Yekaterinburg and could spend up to 20 years in prison if convicted. IMAGES

The trial of Russian opposition politician Ilya Yashin, accused of spreading "fake" information, begins in a Moscow court. Yashin faces up to 10 years behind bars for denouncing President Vladimir Putin's offensive in Ukraine. He is accused of spreading false information about the Russian army under legislation introduced after Putin launched the operation in Ukraine. IMAGES
Former Russian defence reporter, Ivan Safronov, is sentenced to 22 years on treason charges by a Moscow court. Safronov, 32, appeared handcuffed inside a glass box. Safronov was one of the country's most respected reporters, working for business newspapers Kommersant and Vedomosti. He is accused of divulging state secrets. IMAGES
