73 minors killed in post-coup Myanmar crackdown: shadow govt

Mandalay, May 26 (EFE/EPA).- At least 73 children have died in Myanmar due to brutal repression by the security forces against any hint of opposition after the military coup on Feb. 1, the dissident National Unity Government (NUG) denounced on Wednesday.The deaths of 63 boys, nine girls and one minor of unidentified gender were recorded between Feb. 15 and May 15, said the self-proclaimed democratic government, made up of activists and politicians elected during the November elections, whose result is not recognized by the Myanmar military.     Mandalay, Apr 15 (EFE/EPA).- Myanmar security forces opened fire Thursday at a demonstration of medical personnel in Mandalay and detained about 20 people in a new day of protests against the military junta that seized power during the Feb. 1 coup, the local press reported.
