Audi Sport customer racing provided pure emotion at the world’s biggest GT3 race: Four unusual design race cars to mark the 100th race birthday at Spa, a concentrated chase and the battle for victory of the number 32 car, which seemed almost impossible before the race started, attracted a lot of attention and sympathy for the brand. Audi Sport Team WRT had been deprived of all chances with this race car through no fault of its own due to red flags in qualifying. The race of van der Linde/Vanthoor/Weerts initially appeared hopeless. But in the end they missed victory by only 3.9 seconds.
As part of the 40 years of Audi Sport GmbH celebrations, three former champions for Audi in the DTM took part in the 2023 Nürburgring 24 Hours. Mike Rockenfeller, Timo Scheider and Martin Tomczyk took part in the race with Audi Sport Team Scherer PHX.
Three champions, one Green Hell: Mike Rockenfeller, Timo Scheider and Martin Tomczyk had their first race together in the Audi R8 LMS from Audi Sport Team Scherer PHX at the 24h Nürburgring Qualifiers – in preparation for the 2023 Nürburgring 24 Hours, from May 18–21.
After the pandemic forced a postponement of the IGTC final race from December 4, 2021, to February 5, 2022, Audi Sport customer racing concluded the 2021 season with another title success: in 2016, 2017 and 2018, Audi Sport was already the best manufacturer in the only global GT3 racing series, and now the company has left four other sports car brands behind by winning the title at Kyalami.
Quadruple championship success in the ADAC GT Masters: At the season finale at the Nürburgring, Audi Sport driver Christopher Mies and his teammate Ricardo Feller secured the title in the drivers’ classification. Their team Montaplast by Land-Motorsport won the ADAC GT Masters Team classification. Ricardo Feller was also delighted with the title in the Junior classification. The Trophy title went to Florian Spengler, another Audi driver.
